Feeling thankful

Today was a full day of sessions with a little sightseeing thrown in. I am looking forward to putting to use some things I have learned so far and sharing with my team. I am incredibly thankful to work for a company/manager that believes enough in me to send me to this event so many miles from home. I have had a lot of fun spending time with colleagues I wouldn’t have met in person if it weren’t for this conference. We laughed, shared personal stories and ate good food together. Shout out to Tony, Lindsey, Heather and PK for making this a great trip.

Middle of nowhere

Glasgow, MT – population 3414. I saw a farm that I swear had that many cows, we were going too fast so I couldn’t get an accurate count. This town is 4.5 hours in any direction to any city with a population of 75,000 or more. Thanks Jeff for providing the data for me. The things you learn when you you travel through places with no cell service and run out of lives on your game and forgot to download your books šŸ˜‚

Life on a train

Wow! What a restful night! Just kidding! I was thinking the train motion was more of a rocking cradle and not one that feels like we are dodging the potholes on the roads of Milwaukee. We also went through what sounded like a hail storm and driving through slush at the same time. Oh well, I don’t sleep good most nights anyway. I am meeting new people at meal time, you have no choice because you sit where the waiter puts you and since I am here by myself everyone is new. I will be posting pictures when I get to somewhere with reception, but today we have been going through ND and there really isn’t much going on in this state anyway. I do wish I would have remembered to download the ebooks I purchased before I left though. I have run out of lives on my games. Despite not have anything to read but the safety pamphlet and running out of game lives, this really could be a new favorite mode of travel for me.

And I’m off

The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad became the first transport of passengers and freight on 2/28/1827. The steam engine made a believer of a lot of people that it could do the job it said it would. Train travel has come a long way, in my little roomette, I have an electrical outlet, my own thermostat, lights, chairs that turn into beds. What’s not to love!?! So, today starts my adventure, traveling from Milwaukee to Seattle. Longest train ride for me; it will be an interesting journey. One thing I can say is my anxiety level is much lower than if I were on a plane. Stay tuned for more train adventures with RickiBobbi.

Birth of a Blog

Am I the only one who doesn’t like to fly? No really! Someone who would find a walking route before getting on a tubular bullet shooting through the sky? OK, so not that bad, but enough to cause high amounts of anxiety. What causes low or no amounts of anxiety? Spending time with my family and friends, playing with my dog and cats, crafting and I hope long train rides. My manager thinks I am crazy to request train travel to my out of state conference saying it will make a lover of air travel out of me. I disagreed saying we (people in general) are always in too much of a hurry to get to places; I am going to love this trip and I am going to blog it to show him and my team what a great adventure this is. So, here’s to the birth of my blog site! Thank you for the inspiration JC, leader of Team Pineapple. My adventure starts in a few days.
